900—Air Quality Index level of New Delhi, India, which prompted city officials to declare a public health emergency. New Delhi has been ranked as the most polluted city in the world. NGOs like Greenpeace report that 22 of the world’s 30 most polluted cities are in India. The immense pollution has caused India to surpass China as the world’s leader in greenhouse gas emissions, with China’s Air Quality Index maxing out in the 100s according to AQICN.
