It comes as no surprise that red roses are the most popular choice for individuals trying to express their love on Valentine’s day.

With Valentine’s day being more popular now than it ever has been before, it may come as a surprise to learn that the tradition is over 1,500 years old, with the first recorded instance of the practice being performed in 496 AD as a makeshift Roman Festival.

With Valentine’s day being most commonly associated with the concept of love, it only makes sense that the day is a popular choice for the grandest form of emotional gesture (The wedding proposal).

Valentine’s day is often overshadowed by the two most popular American holidays of Christmas and Halloween. However, in 2021 alone, over 135 million Americans went shopping for Valentine’s day, which reflects the immense popularity the holiday still holds.

With immense popularity comes immense consumer spending, and Valentine’s day continues to support this trend in consumption for popular holidays as tens of billions of dollars are spent on the holiday each year.
