Blake Eats: COVID Takeout Edition
When the Coronavirus first struck the U.S. in March, everyone was scared of leaving the comfort of their houses, confined to eating home-cooked meals. Then, when quarantine looked like it was going to last months instead of weeks, restaurants quickly adapted to get their kitchens up and running again in some capacity. Thus, takeout! Thank God for takeout. Itβs like eating at a restaurant from the comfort of your own home. Here are my familyβs go-to take-out restaurants:
This restaurant opened in late August, in the midst of the pandemic, and it has since become a staple in my householdβwe get it almost every Wednesday. If you couldnβt already tell, this Japanese restaurant serves sushi. I like getting the basic California roll, which is rice and seaweed wrapped around crab, cucumber, and avocado. However, if you are like my younger sister and absolutely despise sushi, there are alternatives too. She likes to get chicken teriyaki. Overall, this restaurant has pretty good food and it is only a seven-minute drive from Blake!
We ordered food from this Burtonsville restaurant many, many times in March. They serve all kinds of Italian food including pizza, pasta, meat, and even fish. We especially like to get the Chicken Parmigiana, which is basically spaghetti, chicken, and red sauce. However, as a result of COVID-19, they have limited their services to curbside pickup only. Due to the good food, good prices, and the 13-minute drive from Blake, itβs a perfect option for a family dinner.
Siriwan Thai is only five minutes away from Blake and they have dine-in, curbside pickup, and delivery options available. We have been eating from Siriwan since long before Coronavirus, and we will continue to do so. They have the best chicken fried rice and fried tofu, so you have to try it.
If you are looking to diverge from the traditional sandwich fast food (like Subway and Jersey Mikes), then Full On is the perfect place for you. Although they only serve sandwiches and salads, the quality of food definitely makes up for the lack of options. My favorite sandwich to get is Aloha Chicken, which comprises grilled chicken, Thai sauce, and a slice of pineapple on French bread. Full On only offers dine-in and takeout options, but it is so worth the eight-minute drive from Blake.
You can never go wrong with some pizza. Notorious for their square-shaped pizza, Ledo is only seven minutes away from Blake, and great for either dine-in or take-out eating. It offers a number of pizza options and toppings, but if you donβt like pizza (why wouldnβt you like pizza?), thatβs okay because Ledoβs also serves wings, subs, and other entrees.
Chinese food is great for any night where you are just looking for something that everyone can agree on and Linβs Chinese is the perfect place for that. With a menu containing many different options, everyone can get what they like. Whether you want beef lo-mein, dumplings, or orange chicken, Linβs has it. Even better, itβs only five minutes away from Blake and they offer delivery, take out, and dine-in.
These times have been hard on everyone, so I just hope that this list will make things easier on you all, and provide you with good choices for take out that you can use when dinner just does not want to make itself.
