Varsity Fall Sports Update

Blake’s fall sports look to improve and try their hardest to be playoff contenders in their respective sports. Even though they have had a rough first half of the season, there is still time to turn it around.Β  Varsity fall sports have a collective record of 7-16, a 43% win. In spite of this, each of the teams have displayed a lot of promise and have the potential to make their hard work pay off. It’s almost the half way point through the season, which means winter sports are preparing for tryouts and their upcoming season as well. Β 

Cross CountryBoth boys and girls cross country do not have enough players to score, but have performed well in races. According to the cross country coach Ms. Staub, at the Barnhart invitational, everyone ran fast times on a fast course. Also at a home meet, both teams (boys & girls) won. 
Girls Field HockeyGirls field hockey has had a rough season as they are 1-5 halfway through the season. There is still time to turn it around and make a playoff run, if they can turn their latest blowout win against Paint Branch into a winning streak.
FootballVarsity football has had a pretty strong start to their season, going 3-1, with three decisive wins. Their only loss was at Sherwood, where they lost a close game in heartbreaking fashion.
GolfGolf has started off their season really well, finishing in the top 3 for each of their matchups. In the first four tournaments they have played, they finished in 1st (197 pts); 1st (204 pts); 3rd (218 pts); 2nd (200 pts); 2nd (197 pts). These different tournaments featured opponents such as Wheaton, Springbrook, Kennedy and more.  
Boys SoccerBoys soccer has had a rocky start for their season, starting 2-4. They beat Magruder in overtime on Wednesday, September 21, where freshman Santiago Sanabria Castillo scored the game winner.
Girls SoccerGirls soccer is building a strong team, going 4-3 so far through the season. Just last night they defeated Sherwood 4-3, a vital win for this Bengals team. They look to piece together a win streak facing Einstein on Saturday.  
Girls VolleyballThe girls volleyball team has gotten off to a rocky start, currently being 0-5. Blake will take on Einstein tomorrow, September 29, in a must win game for their season.
