UMD Sits High After Selection Sunday
Maryland womenβs basketball earns another bid in the NCAA tournament after an outstanding season, going 21-8 overall and 13-4 against the Big Ten. Despite losing to Indiana in the first round of the Big Ten tournament, they are a 4th seed in the tournament in the Spokane Region.
Maryland has earned a top 4 seed 14 times in Coach Brenda Freseβs 20 postseasons at the program.Β Coach Frese has led the Terrapins to nine Sweet Sixteens, six Elite Eights, three Final Fours, and the 2006 NCAA championship, where they beat Duke to capture the title.Β
This yearβs roster featureβs 5 players who averaged double-digit point totals, with the leading scorer being sophomore guard/forward Angel Reese who averaged 17.5 points per game. The Naismith Defensive Player of the Year semifinalist also averaged 10.8 rebounds per game while shooting an efficient 50% from the field this season.
