More Tricks, Less Treats
Does Halloween feel too hollow for you? Is the night a little too peaceful? If answers are what you seek, look no further as we have them here for you.
It feels like the spirit of Halloween has been declining for the past few years and it’s no surprise that the streets have been looking emptier on that supposed frightful night.
In recent years the fear of drugged candy being given to children has been on the rise, but what started this paranoia?
The earliest case of drugs being mixed with candy was back in 1959 when California dentist William Shyne gave candy-coated laxatives, to trick-or-treaters. Now the concerns are harmful drugs like fentanyl and tiny razors being found within the candies. To add fuel to an already large fire of fear, in October of 2022 the DEA warned parents of brightly colored fentanyl being used to attract children, a method being used by drug traffickers.
Since then more claims about slivers of glass, needles, and even poison in childrenβs Halloween candy have grown, but unfortunately, none have been factually checked and are left to cause fear in parents on Halloween night. Despite the concern on social media and amongst parents regarding the candy, more and more children have been trick-or-treating since the year 2020.Β
Regardless of all speculation, the most important tip to having the best Halloween is to have fun, and thereβs no harm in taking precautions during your night out, and most importantly donβt eat it all at once!Β
