Grey’s Anatomy Needs to End

(Beware of spoilers)

Coming from a superfan of the hit drama medical series, I KNOW that it just must come to an end. As much as I and many others hate it, it only makes sense. Grey’s Anatomy recently made history with its 18th season, making it the longest-running primetime medical drama. I’ve been a superfan of the show since 7th grade, and it has easily become my favorite show of all time but, there is just no more real plot to the show. As sad as it may be, it’s also time.

Being one of the longest-running shows there are many seasons and so much that goes into it. Many, and I mean MANY have left the show throughout the seasons, and it just doesn’t feel right anymore. Practically every main character has left including the person who the show is named after, Meredith Grey. I mean if the person who the show is named after is no longer on the show, why is the show still airing?? The only characters who have been here since the first episode that is still going pretty strong from what’s been heard are Dr. Miranda Bailey and Dr. Richard Webber, but even though they are the only ones still here since the beginning, it just doesn’t feel right.Β

Meredith recently made her exit from the show in the season 18 finale, but what doesn’t make complete sense to me is that she announced how she’ll definitely make a comeback. What’s the point of that? Also before every episode, there’s an intro that a certain character does as the episode starts. Usually, it’s Mereidth Grey (Ellen Pompeo) doing a voice-over for the first couple minutes of the show, and somehow it’s still her. I don’t know if these are pre-recorded, but even after she’s already left, I feel like they’re trying to somehow keep her a part of the show since it is named after her, but she’s already physically left.Β

The show should have ended when Alex Karev made his horrendous exit because at least to me he was a pivotal character, kind of like Meredith Grey, but that’s just my opinion. His exit was definitely something to throw every viewer off because if you’ve ever watched the show, you’d know that he’d never do something like that, but that’s beside the point. When he left, the show just felt so much emptier and pointless, and now that Mereidth has left, there is absolutely NO POINT TO THE SHOW. I feel like they’re just dragging it out for as long as they can, but I have no idea why.Β

Currently, they’re on their 19th season going on to 20. The show now has basically started from the beginning. The first episode started with 5 interns going through their process and lives of becoming surgeons, and now it’s turned into the same thing, but with completely different characters. Kind of like a replacement from the original cast, which just makes no sense. Now they’re going through these new interns’ lives of becoming surgeons. It’s time for Shonda Rhimes (the show’s creator) to somehow create a finale TO END THE SHOW and not the season because it isn’t even Grey’s Anatomy anymore. I mean how could it be??
