Homecoming: A Tradition That Unites Us
As we know, Blake’s Homecoming is coming up. Who’s ready to get jazzy? All jokes aside, though, the theme is The Great Gatsby. What is that, you may ask? And why?Β The Great Gatsby explores themes of wealth, class, love, and the American Dream set in the extravagant Jazz Age of 1920s New York.
Homecoming takes place on October 11, 2025, from 8 pm to 11 pm. No entry after 9:30 pm. The dance is in Blake High School’s cafeteria. The student council from all grade levels decided on the Great Gatsby theme. The theme was recommended by the current junior class of 2027 because most of them are fond of reading it from their previous high school years, according to Ms. Taylor, who covers everything from the pep rally to the dance. Tickets must be purchased online. Will students’ student IDs be required to let you into homecoming?Β The answer is yes! According to Mr. Adelekan, IDs will be required to use as a βcodeβ to buy your tickets. One ticket per person, but if you have a date that doesn’t go to this school, don’t worry, because you can fill out a guest form. Seems like people are excited this year, lots of participation from students and families. According to Ms. Nickens, βthereΒ were over 60 students who helped with decorations for homecoming, [and] also families of the students helping.βAlso, music can be picked by students this year as long as it is school-appropriate, of course. This will be done by scanning QR codes and putting in your recommendation.Β Last but not least, the food being served is pizza and cookies. Unfortunately, there will be no chips available this year, according to Ms. Nickens.
Thatβs all for pre-homecoming information, Bengals! The Blake Beat hopes you have a wonderful night at the dance.
