Wizards Draft Options
- What are the options for the Wiz with their #1 pick?Β
They can keep the pick and use the prospect to build for the future or they can try to trade the pick for more proven, win-now players. There are four players believed to be in consideration for the first overall pick, each with their own set of skills and potential.
- Aj Dybansa is a very explosive wing who can score from anywhere on the court making him the projected #1 pick. He has the potential to be a high-scoring NBA star.Β
- Darryn Peterson: He is a smooth physical guard who can control the pace of the game and easily score at all three levels, topped with his elite playmaking.Β
- Cameron Boozer is an incredibly skilled and polished power forward with great skills. He plays with a lot of intelligence, he is a beast on the glass, and he has an amazing outside game.
- Caleb Wilson is an athletic and versatile forward who runs the floor and finishes above the rim. He has blocking, which makes him a major problem.Β
- If they stay at #1 and take a player, whoβs the best pick for them?Β Β
AJ Dybansa. He is a versatile wing with incredible potential. Last year, he averaged 25.5 ppg, 6 rbg, and 3.7 assist as a true freshman, showing he can contribute in a number of ways. He is the best pick amongst his class, especially because he has the most potential to be an All-NBA level talent and his position as a ball-handling wing fits with the current roster they have.
- If they look at trading the #1 pick, what options do they have there?Β Β
Could trade down to collect assets and still get a highly valued prospect. Or they could trade the pick for a veteran or a collection of players to add to Young and Davis. There are a number of players always available for trades, but itβs hard to pass on the talent available this year at the top of the draft.
- Ok, what should they do?
The Wizards should draft Dybansa at #1 overall and trade Anthony Davis. He doesnβt fit well into the teamβs current plans or timeline, and trading him will result in even more young talent and/or draft picks in the future.
