Fall Sports Recap

Varsity FootballBlake Football officially finished their first ever undefeated regular season, ending 9-0. Then last Thursday, they took down Whitman High School 35-7 to advance onto the next round. Junior Runningback Jeremiah Seaton has led the team this season in rushing yards and touchdowns, while Junior Quarterback Kirby Matson leads the team through the air. The team moved past Urbana Highschool in a hard-fought game, winning 16-6 at home. The Bengals unfortunately lost 28-7 to North Point Highschool, ending the historic run. This year was the best season in program history, ending with an 11-1 record. 
Cross CountryDuring their first counties at Gaithersburg, boys and girls cross country had solid outings with the boys finishing in 17th and the girls at 16th. A week later at Utica Park, boys finished in 8th place as the girls finished in 9th with Chris Abubakar, Semir Kemal, and Emilie Creighton each individually qualifying for states the following Saturday in Parkton. At the State Championship, Emilie Creighton continued show that she is in one of the top runners in the State, placing 7th. Chris Abubakar had a time of 17:36 and Semir Kemal had his best outing of the season running 18:10. Also at States, Blake won the Sportsmanship Award. It was another good season for Cross Country as they get ready for the indoor season. 
Varsity Field HockeyField Hockey finished 6-7 overall and 2-1 in conference play in Emilie Wooten’s first season as head coach. They were able to win the division title which was their first since 2018. However, they fell to Atholton in the region semifinals. Sammy Tacchetti led the team in points (3 goals and 2 assists) while Shaynah Bickers, Nicolette Tracewski, and Tacchetti each led the team with 3 goals. Goalie Lindsay Clifford had 131 saves on the year.  
Varsity GolfVarsity Golf finished a successful season that included consecutive first-place finishes and several second-place placements. Senior Tyler Kroop and sophomore Ndiki Njenga helped propel the team to their impressive accomplishments. 
Varsity PickleballPickleball finished ended their season 2-0-1, garnering wins over Richard Montgomery and Bethesda-Chevy Chase Highschool. They outscored opponents 4-1 this season, winning in dominant fashion. Pickleball was a new addition to the county this year, so the Bengals will look to continue improving and look upon next year. 
Boys Varsity SoccerBengals Boys Soccer had a strong regular season, finishing with an 8-4 record. They stormed through the 3A West II region, earning the Regional Championship and reaching the final eight teams. However, they fell in the state quarterfinals in overtime to South River to end their run.
Girls Varsity SoccerGirls Soccer ended their season 3-8-2, ultimately losing in the State Quarterfinals to Rockville Highschool, 5-0. They had dominant wins over Northwood, John F Kennedy, and Watkins Mill Highschool, boasting a differential of 15-2. The team also had 11 seniors, so a new look Bengals team will aim for a competitive season next year. 
Girls Varsity VolleyballGirls Volleyball had a tough beginning to their season, dropping their first 11 games. However, the Bengals turned their performance around, taking two of their last three with wins over Rockville and Northwood before being eliminated by Magruder in the playoffs.
