Field Hockey: 6-7
Cherlin Lucas
Varsity Field Hockey had a record of 6-7, funny, isnβt it? Despite having more new players than returning players, they managed to have a better record than in the past, all thanks to the amazing coaches they had this year, Coach Ribulotta and Coach Virginia. The girls' field hockey team seemingly learned a lot this season, with great practices, games, and memories created.Β
Football: 6-4

Blake's Football team made a name for itself in the 4A competition. With a standout 7-3 win against Northwest in the season opener and big wins over Whitman and Blair, the Bengals have shaken up the competition. Key seniors Junior Rodriguez and Benji Wilson have elevated the program. Junior broke the single-game rushing record against Blair, Benji is taking his talents to Division 1 football, and the program also won all but one home game this year. Additionally, the JV Bengals went undefeated for the third year in a row. Standout Varisty and JV participant, Freshman Xavier McQueen, had a great year, scoring his first Varisty touchdown in a 61-7 win against Springbrook. At the time of publication, the Bengals won the first round of playoff competition 33-15 against Laurel High School. Moving forward, the Bengals hope to make a deep playoff run, facing the Paint Branch Panthers on the road this Friday.

The Blake girls' flag football team had a solid season, winning four games and losing eight in their second season at BHS. Blake flag earned their first win of the season against NEC rival Springbrook for the home opener. The 7-6 win was led by Freshman, Zion Atkins, who scored her first career touchdown in the overtime thriller. Another standout this season was Junior, Nya Jackson, who earned All-County Defense and led the Bengals in interceptions. As a relatively new sport at Blake, the team has done a superb job since last year and has made significant improvements. Center, Andrea Martinez, thinks of this season as: βGreat, we had our ups and downs, lost a lot of peopleβ¦but we turned the season around and made the best of what we had!β Overall, the flag football team strives to progress in the years to come.

Girls' soccer had a solid year. Key moments emerged from beating both of Blakeβs NEC [North East Consortium] rivals, Paint Branch and Springbrook, elevating Blakeβs chances in the βcupβ against the schools. Girls' soccer will return key players but also lose senior contributors. Sophomore Yumi Lobaugh had a great season with a standout week 5, scoring in both games that week. Overall, the team made waves in 4A with hopes of building something great.Β
Boys' Soccer: 9-4-1
Nana Agyemang
Boys' soccer had an outstanding 2025/2026 season. The team finished 9-4-1 in Blakeβs new 4A conference. Team successes ranged from competing in the county championship and reaching round 2 of the playoffs. Although Blakeβs boys' soccer team lost to Northwest in the county championship, that does not undermine the team's exceptional 2nd-place ranking in their division. Also notable, JV soccer did an outstanding job during their season. The team beat both NEC rivals, Paint Branch and Springbrook, and finished with an overall record of 5-4.Β
Cheer
Giselle Wyche
The Bengals performed at football games this season and showed their βBlake Pride.β Cheer had the opportunity to compete in one regular-season competition this fall, resulting in an outcome the team didn't hope for. On a positive note, Blake Cheer will advance to the Regional competition this year. The cheer team is in high spirits for the official competition season approaching. You can also catch cheerleading at the upcoming Blake basketball games this winter season.Β Β
