Dumb Politicians and Dead Presidents

Pointing and laughing at Congress’s children disguised as mature political elites is exactly what I love to do in my spare time.

The Secretary of War and Macho Man Pete Hegseth started the most recent embarrassing discussion with remarks against military officials who don’t fit his version of β€œin shape.”  He said that it’s “completely unacceptable to see fat generals and admirals in the halls of the Pentagon and leading commands around the country and the world.” -Pete Hegseth

Responding to Hegseth, California Governor Gavin Newsom responded with a shot at President Trump, saying that it’s β€œCOMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE TO SEE A FAT COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF IN THE HALLS OF THE WHITE HOUSE.”

While Newsom may have thought he was helping the situation by giving the administration a taste of their own medicine, in reality, it’s just another example of a politician acting immature and petty in 2025.

Furthermore, Newsom has a history of calling out Trump in all-caps on Twitter while exclaiming the following:  β€œDONALD TACO TRUMP, AS MANY CALLED HIM MISSED THE DEADLINE!” or, β€œSTOP CHEATING OR CALIFORNIA WILL REDRAW THE MAPS.” And my personal favorite, β€œDONALD (TINY HANDS), HIS WRITTEN HIS AUTOBIOGRAPHY THIS MORNING – UNFORTUNATELY (LOW IQ) HE SPELLED IT WRONG  – β€œBETA.” These attempts to phrase messages similarly to Trump to see how ridiculous our President’s messaging is aren’t helping the situation at all–they’re just leading to more of the same.

Apparently, this is another day of me learning about the people who have been employed to run the nation and actually manage events going on both nationally and internationally. Somehow don’t know that both keeping to yourself and minding your own business are free.

Now Hegseth claims that out-of-shape soldiers β€œ[are] a bad look. It is bad, and it is not who we are,” yet would apparently neglect the idea of, you know, not fatshaming us Americans. I mean, let’s be honest, we are an unhealthy nation, but I’d never expect the Secretary of War to have no filter over somebody’s weight.

Why is that, by the way? DataObesity ranks the United States as the 19th and 22nd ranking nation in obesity rates for adults and children, respectively. You might as well call out the 31.6% Americans if you combine the averages together. With those totals, Hegseth has practically called out 100,000,000 Americans here.

Newsom’s not much better, though. Admittedly, we’re all frustrated with political discourse these days, but I don’t get why Newsom is so worried about how a seemingly moderately obese president seems to be on his mind and agenda. Why not the rising costs of housing prices, disparity in wealth and income, literacy problems, lack of water and risk of wildfires, and an overall unstable state to reside in? Why not focus on that?

Besides, we’ve had fat presidents, had high cholesterol, or chronic health conditions, who were great leaders for the nation. Such as Teddy Roosevelt and Dwight D. Eisenhower, with Roosevelt’s trust-busting policies to take control of monopolies, diplomacy methods, and the health of the American people and the nation’s environment. Eisenhower, during the Cold War, created NASA, practically ended the Korean War, and opened up civil rights for African-Americans.

Pete Hegseth himself is a man who I believe was best off sticking to television if he needed to call out fat officials in the nation. You know, the folks who are willing to serve and protect America still. This is, overall, one of many tiny things I wish America would move away from talking about. This nation has bigger problems to deal with and bigger fish to fry.
