Blake Boys Soccer on Fire

Under the Friday night lights this year, we have seen the Football team dominate, but our boy’s soccer team is off to just as hot of a start.

This year, the Bengals are led by seniors Erick Gutierrez Moreno and Jaylen Romero. They have been dominant at stretches this year, with key wins against Quince Orchard and Northwood High School. The Bengals are bouncing back from a year where they went under .500, and are trying to repeat their success from two years ago when they won the region championship.

When asked about the difference between last year and this year, Captain Eric Gutierrez  said, β€œThis year the team has a lot more unity and we get along better outside of practice, and that has led to everyone being on the same page.”

He stated that winning the region is the main goal for him and this team. He wants to, β€œprove to everyone that Blake can compete on the level of the best in the county, and in the state.”  This team enjoys playing with each other, and they want to make the most of this time, while they are still playing together.

The boys have clinched the first seed in the region, even with rough losses to both Paint Branch and Sherwood High School. We wish them luck entering the playoffs this week.
