Yesterday evening, Arvin Kim was elected as the 2022-2023 Student Member of the Board. The voting was particularly close, as Kim won with 59% of the votes.
In an acceptance post Arvin said, “As I’ve visited your schools, walked your halls, and heard from you, I’ve gained irreplaceable experience and invaluable insight into what it means to be a student in MCPS.” Kim begins his term on July 1st, excited to get to work and make a change in the MCPS community.
Even though his competitor Ibrahima (Baba) Cisse lost, he still proposed many great ideas Kim will most likely also try to implement. Cisse put out a message to MCPS students where he said, “I personally will keep fighting for your rights as hard as I can and I need you to do the same.”
We look forward to seeing what Kim is able to accomplish and thank Cisse for fighting so hard for MCPS students.
