The Lightning Thief by Blake Stage Company
This past weekend, the ultra-talented Blake Stage Company put on a spectacular performance of The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical.
From March 19th through the 21st, the community enjoyed a theatrical show with lights, effects, and an amazing on-stage band. Between the cast, crew, director, and everyone who made the musical possible, it was certainly well-received when the audience rose to their feet during the final curtain call on closing night.

Blake Stage Company has had a range of performances, but this specific musical stands out as prominent and engaging to the audience. The Lighting Thief was seemingly a strong choice for a spring performance, as it followed Argonautika, Blake’s fall production that shared similar themes of togetherness through voyage, aspiring stories, and connected horizons. In this case, The Lightning Thief showcases parental dynamics through Greek gods, focusing on the “Big Three”: Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades. The plot follows Percy Jackson, played by Blake Junior Isaac Madden, who discovers he is a demigod son of Poseidon. Accused of stealing Zeus’ lightning bolt, Percy, with friends Annabeth, played by Junior Cydney Wilson, and Grover, played by Senior Tabitha Johnson, embark on a quest to the underworld in hopes of preventing a war between the Greek gods, discovering that Luke, not Hades!! Stole the lightning bolt!

The musical was thoroughly engaging as audience members laughed, gasped, and cheered throughout the scenes. The house was filled every night that weekend for Blake Stage Company.
