Modern Warfare Reboot Review

After playing the beta with my friends a month ago, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare set the bar high for itself.

Modern Warfare is the first COD title to feature cross-platform matchmaking, meaning that people playing the game on PC, PS4 or Xbox players can verse each other. After looking through the game in its entirety, Modern Warfare is shaped to be the best COD entry in years.

The graphics of Modern Warfare are almost lifelike. I play the game at its absolute maximum settings, turning on the new RTX mode as well.

The Multiplayer is AMAZING. The game modes available day one are not as eventful as past Call of Duty titles, being there are nine: Search and Destroy, Team Deathmatch, Cyber Attack, Domination, Free-for-all, Headquarters, Ground War, Gunfight, and Realism. Each of these modes, especially, Ground War and Gunfight, are action-packed.

The only thing holding back multiplayer at the moment is the map pool. The maps in Modern Warfare are hard to navigate and see other players on. The map Pine is a prime example of one of the weirder maps in the game, being there is foliage that gets in the way of the view. Unless you have 30/30 vision it’s nearly impossible to find someone in uniform in a bush and this applies to most outdoor maps. Hopefully, more maps are added soon that are fun to play on like Piccadilly.

You should play the campaign in Modern Warfare is as soon as you get the game. It is great at showing cool new features like salvaging oil cans from cars to use as suppressors, the mount feature which brings leaning back to the game and much more. In the missions, you play as a CIA officer who works with both British SAS forces and rebels from the fictional country Urzikstan, fighting against the usual villain for the Modern Warfare games, Russia.

The campaign runs around 6 hours. If you are well versed in the game and take time to search every inch of a mission, you can see small details like the Clear House mission, where your squadmates are not immortal like they were in previous games. If you don’t save the squadmates from the terrorists in the house they are gone for the entire mission.

Modern Warfare isn’t meant to make you a super soldier that only kills bad guys and never makes mistakes. It shows that war isn’t perfect, it causes men to fight one another and destroys those caught in between the crossfire. War isn’t easy and this entry in the series does an amazing job making a realistic war experience you can have at home without stepping foot on the battlefield. If you love action-packed multiplayer games and a gripping story, the new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare reboot is the game for you.
