A New Addition to Blake: A Winter Pep Rally
If one pep rally wasnβt enough, Blake decided to hold a second on Friday, December 19, 2025. While Blake High School has hosted fall pep rallies for decades, specifically the ones celebrating Homecoming, next week marks Blake’s first winter pep rally after 6 years! SGA has gone all out to make sure this yearβs pep rally is an unforgettable event for students, staff, and teachers. This yearβs pep rally will feature a variety of performances, new games, and music thatβll get the Blake spirit going!
Due to the cold and uncomfortable weather and the extended period that would be spent outside, our SGA decided to hold it inside the gym. The gym cannot fit everyone in the school all at once, so they chose to have two pep rallies. During the first, all classes on the first floor and in the portables will report to the gym and enjoy their pep rally, while all the classes on the second floor remain in their seventh periods. Afterwards, those who went to witness it first must go back to their seventh period, while all the classes on the second floor take their spot in the gym. This will make your seventh period about an hour long, but it will be worth it to see all the things that this pep rally has to offer.
During the pep rally, the K-pop club will perform again as they did before during the fall pep rally. Poms and cheer will also make an appearance in a combined performance. And lastly, the multicultural club will perform as well for the first time!
But there will also be games! Instead of tug-a-war and the sack potato race we saw during the fall pep rally, this time there will be hungry hippos, where βwe’re gonna get those like rolling partsβ with βboxes, and then there will be like a whole bunch of like those ball pit like plastic balls in the middle of the ground.β Then, participants will try to get as many balls as they can in eight minutes, according to Ms. Taylor. The next game will include a TikTok trend where you will get the chance to snatch peopleβs wigs. Whoever does it the fastest wins. Lastly, to end the fun, there will be a game of musical chairs.
As per tradition, before every event at Blake, we will have a spirit week leading up to the day of the pep rally. The decision came down to Monday being pajama day, like most spirit weeks in the past. On Tuesday, students and staff are encouraged to wear winter headwear, such as beanies or earmuffs, which are typically worn during the winter months. On Wednesday, you can dress up as any character in any winter-related media. Thursday, you dress up like a candy cane, in red and white. Finally, on Friday, you may show up in an ugly sweater or a onesie.
Instead of giving away necklaces and sunglasses like they usually do during pep rallies, they will be giving away candy canes to students! Big or small, who knowsβ¦
