Sabrina Carpenterβs Sexualization of Minors is Getting Old
Sabrina Carpenter is a well-known musical artist loved especially by social media and younger music fans. Sprouting her career from being a Disney star in 2014 – 2017βs βGirl Meets World,β she began releasing music under a Disney Hollywood record, eventually becoming a nationwide traveling singer and performer. Carpenter has sold out over 70 shows from multi-night performances in 33 arenas in North America. However, Carpenter has already had multiple controversies including inappropriate interactions with fans onstage, disgusting lyric alterations for concerts, and a photoshoot referencing the movie βLolitaβ: a movie about a middle aged man preying on a young underaged girl and taking her away from her family. Fans continue to flock to her, but no one is discussing Carpenter using inappropriately sexual undertones to increase her popularity.
At times, Sabrina Carpenter comes across like a theater kid who just hooked up with someone and needs everyone to know about it because itβs the only interesting thing about her. This disgrace for a popstar is one of the main artists in βfast musicβ to get a quick check, leave, and come back next year when the weather gets warmer again for her to wear her poorly designed revealing outfits.
Music standards today have gone down lower than any other art centered media. Social media intaking this βslop mediaβ is dangerous for younger listeners, especially when Carpenter is centering her music around worshipping men with an album of her on all fours under a man while he holds her hair in her βMans Best Friendβ album in 2025, sexualizing young minors in lyrics and during shows, doing a photoshoot centered around a pedophile, and having live performances where she does different sex poses with her background dancers to her disturbing songs.
Additionally, during a concert in 2022, Sabrina Carpenter went off her standard script for the show and began asking a 16 year old boy if he was βhorny.β Although this was just a βmistake,β knowing you have younger fans should set at least some kind of standard when interacting with fans. Which then, three years later her Lolita photoshoot was released in September with W Magazine. In Sabrina Carpenter’s songs, especially in her βemails i canβt sendβ (2022) album, she improved some of the lyrics during her performance in Mexico City. Improvising an outro for her 2022 hit song βNonsenseβ she made of the lyrics βIβm Full grown but I look like a niΓ±a / Come put something big in my casita / Mexico I think you are bonita.β βNiΓ±aβ translating to βlittle girlβ and βcasitaβ to βhouseβ or βcottageβ. This alone is extremely predatory, and saying although sheβs a fully grown woman but looks like a little girl on top of her saying her sexualized metaphor for a saying βput something big in my small houseβ sexualizes the image of a little girl. She has faced no consequences nor any public hate, which leaves her to get away with her disgusting use of figurative language during her improved outro to βNonsense.β
Besides sexualizing minors (and herself) for her career, she has also been accused of being racist. Sabrina Carpenter faced backlash during her headlining the 2026 Coachella set when she heard one of her fanβs traditional Arabic celebratory cry (a zaghrouta) for βyodellingβ and then began to say βew..I dont like thatβ and βthat’s weird.β Even though she didnβt understand the celebratory Arabic cry, she still called yodelling βweirdβ which is a part of another culture. The only reason Sabrina Carpenter apologized for her comments during her headlining, was because she was facing immense backlash from an entire culture, various fans and most of social media. This sets a bad example for her younger fans as well as people in general by thinking it’s okay to be disrespectful towards something they don’t understand.
